升级MYSQL出现的问题，求救！！

我装了ｒｅｄｈａｔ９自带的ｍｙｓｑｌ３．２．３，现在想升级为我装了ｒｅｄｈａｔ９自带的ｍｙｓｑｌ３．２．３，现在想升级为5.17

我下载了一个mysql-5.1.7-beta-linux-i686-glibc23。
configure时出错：

Installing all prepared tables

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy support-files/mysql.server
to the right place for your system

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:
./bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
./bin/mysqladmin -u root -h localhost.localdomain password 'new-password'
See the manual for more instructions.

NOTE:  If you are upgrading from a MySQL <= 3.22.10 you should run
the ./bin/mysql_fix_privilege_tables. Otherwise you will not be
able to use the new GRANT command!

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd . ; ./bin/mysqld_safe &

You can test the MySQL daemon with the benchmarks in the 'sql-bench' directory:
cd sql-bench ; perl run-all-tests

Please report any problems with the ./bin/mysqlbug script!

Starting the mysqld server.  You can test that it is up and running
with the command:

卸载以前的mysql
rpm -e mysql
又出错：

重新configure 还是同样的错吴

hobby!啊 ，你遇到的问题和我前两天遇到的问题类似，你下的这个程序包是已经编译好的，但我也是怎么装怎么出错，我也是菜鸟，后来我把系统上带的删后，去主站下5.0.19的rpm包来装，现在能用了……

对，楼主下的是编译好的安装包，你应该遵照包里面的那个INSTALL文件里写的默认的安装步骤来安装，很简单的。。。。呵呵，不过你可能用不着添加mysql用户和组了。。。。
