I tried that Basilisk II before, the best Mac simulator I met. highly recommended. the speed is fast enough.
the only drawback is it can't simulate powerPC cpu and thus no osx :(
however os 8.1 is pretty good.

No, MOL can only run on PowerPC hardware since no emulation is performed. However, adding a PowerPC emulator for x86 is under consideration.
