cannot install mysql , plesae help. thanx.

bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!


i got this error message ,when i run hte "mysqladmin"

how can i fix it.

桌面--》从这里开始--》服务器设置--》服务
在mysqld前面打上钩，重启即可。

can you translate this into english.... cuz, my linux is in english ,, i cannot find 从这里开始.

and i installed mysql myself. not the one come with hte system.

Please open a shell ,and change yourself to "root", then
#setup
then you may find a tool named "System services ", move the bar on itand press enter , now you may find "mysqld" ,move the bar on it and press space .
