sound & Modem problems

the Linux that i use is RedHat 9, and the hardware is intel 845GL
there are two problems, please help me
1 no sound
intel 82801DBAC'97
i've installed alsa-0.9.6 and compiled successfully

2 about modem
My modem is intel 536ep data fax modem.
Is the Intel-v92ham-453-R80.tgz responsible for it?

How can i do?

About sound
You can try alsa drivers or oss drivers
If you sound card is AC'97 intel 82801DB alsa is best choice
About modem
I have not any more information for this.
