SuSE Linux Firewall 有一个非常鲜明的特点：它是一个所谓的“活”的系统。整个系统由光盘启动，并不需要将它安装在硬盘当中。其实，这也是SuSE公司提高系统安全性的一个措施。SuSE Linux Firewall on CD的另外一个特点是：它不仅可以保护数据不被外来用户非法访问，还可以为公司内部不同的部门设定不同的访问限制，防止出现“家贼”。 此外，该产品还有过滤、缓存HTML页面的功能。
