首先我信任同志们做的系统，所以我每次都是真正的harddisk Installe,所以我不会有任何问题。
在上面的安装过程中有两个问题：
1，swap问题
2，最后的X配置问题
至于你遇到的系统问题时由于你在配置X的时候导致的，你应该明白在vmware中配置X是永远不可能，因为你必须安装vmware-tools,所以你需要做的是随便选择一种模式继续安装就可以了，这样才能保证安装程序把配置文件写完。
最后，你的这种提交方式的方式并不能解决实际问题，你只需要总结出一个贴子把问题告诉我们，如果你发现了问题的解决办法也一并告诉我们，列一个1,2,3出来，很快就可以方便我们解决问题。
至于kde启动不了，确实是因为host文件，并且这个文件是安装程序最后写入系统的，那个时候你已经将安装重启了。
为什么需要这个文件也很好解释，因为KDE启动的时候要建立N多的socket，如果连基本的网络配置都没有怎么可能继续。
此外，你上述的操作也很容易误倒初学者，实在不利于社区的发展。
看到你的gaim中的消息，我最早用rh 2.4，然后用5.2，然后用slackware 3.6，然后用过debian 2.2，最后我选择了redhat;
turbo, mandrake我也感受过，redflag我从来不用。
中间一段时间曾经作过一段时间的FreeBSD的内核开发和中文化工作。
到最后我连redhat也觉得不好用了，呵呵。
BTW:我每天晚上进行的测试，遇到的头疼问题比这个还要多，你算比较幸福的了，呵呵

只是手里的ISO不能刻盘，只好借助VM了。我的红旗还是Win下用VM装的。算了，重装一次，将就着先把X配置上，然后等真正运行的时候再重新配置一次了。
因为红旗4.0可以自动认出VM的显卡，而ML是不可以的，要自己配置的。安装VM TOOLS INSTALLER.

何必？其实这些问题都是你没有完成安装造成的。
所以关键只是怎么完成安装而已。
我在VM里安装成功了
在VM里跑是很不爽的，所以我用VM只是装，装到物理分区，装好重设引导，要在物理机上直接跑。我装ML用的红旗是在Win2K下用VM装的。
