PCLinuxOS是一份纯英文的自启动运行光盘，它最初基于Mandrake Linux。PCLinuxOS完全从一张可启动光盘运行。光盘上的数据实时地解压缩，从而使得这一张光盘上集成的应用程序多达2G，这包括一份完整的X 服务器，KDE桌面，OpenOffice.org以及更多即刻可用的程序。除了作为自启动运行光盘来使用，你也可以通过一套易于使用的光盘安装程序将 PCLinuxOS安装到硬盘。额外的应用程序可以通过一份友好的apt-get前端Synaptic来添加或删除。

PCLinuxOS Preview 8 is now available via bittorrent download. This release
includes updating of the mklivecd scripts by Tom Kelly and the mklivecd team
to support the 2.6 kernel and udev. The livecd installer has been updated and
experimental usbkey support has been added to allow the user to save their
settings to a usbkey disk.

PCLinuxOS Preview 8 comes with kernel 2.6.7 with udev support. KDE 3.3.2,
OpenOffice 1.1.3, Firefox 1.0 with plugin support, Thunderbird 1.0, P2P file
sharing for Kazza and Gnutella, K3b 0.11.18 cd burning software and many more
applications. There are almost 2 gigs of programs compressed on a single 600
mb livecd!

PCLinuxOS strives to provide a complete and mobile desktop solution to the
average computer user.

You can also install PCLinuxOS to your hard drive and enjoy hundreds of
additional progrlams that are available in the repository. The powerful and
easy to use apt-get, combined with the synaptic front end handle any program
dependencies.

PCLinuxOS preview 8 is a development release and should be considered beta
software. A lot of work has been done for this release, with more
improvements to come in the future. Feedback is encouraged and appreciated as
we march towards an official 1.0 release in 2005!

Two versions are available at this time.

PCLinuxOS Standard Edition contains regular xorg video drivers and
PCLInuxOS-NV Edition contains Nvidia 3D drivers from Nvidia.com.

Also both CD's contain Nforce motherboard drivers from Nvidia.com.

Live-CD的技术难度丝毫不亚于常规Linux,而且可以装到硬盘上,应该是一个重要的发展方向.

我个人还是喜欢直接硬盘或者光盘安装！

Live-CD估计除非是scsi 的cd否则速度也不会很快！！不过装到硬盘上就是另外一回事了

Preview,then install.
SimplyMEPIS is such a kind system.

As DVD-Burner is cheaper and cheaper,Live-CD is more and more popular.

DamnSmall is very fast,really. :lol::lol:
