STEP 2: Download the Driver File
Download - NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4349.run
Note: If you are using SuSE 8.1 or earlier, or if you are using United Linux 1.0, we recommend installing from RPMs built by SuSE.These are available via ftp. If you install via the .run file, XFree86 configuration with SaX2/YaST2 will not work correctly.
STEP 3: Check dependencies
The dependencies are listed in the README. It is important to note that the NVIDIA driver set requires XFree version 4.0.1 or greater. If this is not available on your linux distribution, please go to the XFree86 web site (www.xfree86.org).
STEP 4: Install
Type "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4349.run" to install the driver.

FEATURES OF NVIDIA-INSTALLER
o Uninstall: Driver installation will backup any conflicting files
and record what new files are installed on the system.You may run:
nvidia-installer --uninstall
to uninstall the current driver; this will remove any files that
were installed on the system, and restore any backed up files.
Installing new drivers implicitly uninstalls any previous drivers.
o Auto-Updating: If you run:
nvidia-installer --latest
the utility will connect to NVIDIA's FTP site, and report the latest
driver version and the url to the latest driver file.

nvidia-installer --update

driver file, and install it.
o Multiple user interfaces: The installer will use an ncurses-based

download updated precompiled kernel interfaces from the NVIDIA
FTP site (for kernels that were released after the NVIDIA driver

呵呵,不用另外下载,6M大的一个包,你以为它单是界面代码
它已经包括了源码包了
你用--exract参数就可以自动解压出源码包了
当然,你可以让它自己编译,当提示你是否在线下载编译好的驱动时,你选择no,然后它就提示你是否自己编译了 是啊，我刚看到。但是运行后出错，nvidia-installer.log内容如下，为什么？不明白呀

太长了,贴不上来 RH8。我用的是2.4.20的内核自己编译的。之前的4191没一点问题，就是用了这个东西卸载了老版的驱动以后在安装的时候出现这个问题了
