i think that book, 'let mips run', is a good book on mips. and arm cpu also have a similar book. i learnes embedded linux on arm cpu all from web. once i meet a problem, search from web. and read cpu reference from vendors. one register by one register, really painful. this week, i spend almost whole week on a small register overwriten problem. painful.
yes, so it decides the population of embedded people. and people have different requirement on embedded systems. so it is impossible to buy boards in volume.
Hey, Dragonfly I still have a question. If I want to buy a board, what's point I need to consider?
surpose:
Do the os support that board and cpu?
What kind of port and module needed in the embeded device?
[/list:u]
These are surposes. I'm a newbie here. I'm curious how the thing control a electrical appliance for a long time. I want to understand it, so maybe I will purchase a second hand board for practice.
like a fire alarm system.
u need to know what functionality u want, a small nas may need a pci slot or ide controller, a netcam may only need a mac , usb.... u need to know what interface, expansion slot. u need.
then check web if linux support this kind of board, what is the extent it supports.
sorry, it is 'see mips run'. a scanned version pdf. i forget where i dl it. if u need, send me a msg with u email address. i will give u the url to dl it.
