We're pleased to announce the availability of the zeroth release candidate(s)
of the next Xorg release(s). Both the monolithic 6.9 tree and the modular
7.0 tree have been tagged. The monolith tarball is available at:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/X11R6.9-RC0/xorg-x11-6.8.99.900.tar.bz2
The modular build is available as individual tarballs under:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/X11R7.0-RC0/
The RC number is not accidental. This is unpolished and rough, and is only
just at the point where we can usefully have large numbers of people testing
it and fixing things. So please do! In particular, the modular distribution
is only known to build on a few platforms so far (solaris/x86, linux/x86,
linux/ia64; and at least partially on linux/amd64, solaris/sparc and
osx/ppc), and will probably need fixes to work on other platforms. The only
way other platforms can be supported is if people build, test, and fix them,
so please test the modular build on as many systems as possible.
Bugs should be reported either on the xorg-modular at lists.x.org mailing list or
on the Xorg bugzilla at bugs.freedesktop.org.
The summarized changelog is available at:
