可以将Tibet理解为地区名，China理解为China proper，即历史上中国的心脏地带（相对于不断变动的中国边疆地区而言）。国外的历史书里China一词，作为地理历史概念，含义是很含糊的。主要是因为中国历史很长，疆土变化很大。但多数它并不是特指中华人民共和国（PRC是现代的nation state，疆土很明确）。
