如何升级kernel?

My system is redhat7.3.the kernel version is 2.4.18-3.Now I want to update the kernel,how to make it?(don't tell me to buy new disks about redhat8.0 or higher version)

download one from www.kernel.org. uncompress, compile, and install.

我认为如果不是特别需要流行的话
你用的什么Linux，就下载他们网站提供的内核文件来编译
因为不论是rh还是mdk还是debian
他们的内核都是经过patch的
更稳定一些

but their patches will lead to some changes. and some errors as well.
and some times their hacking will have conflict with my kernel module. some of my kernel module can run well under vanilla kernel while crash under rh ones.

anyway, depends on personal own thoughts.
