其實local.conf 的內容同樣可以放到 fonts.conf 或者是 ~/.fonts.conf.
只不過為了方便管理,所以將內容加入至local.conf.

大慨的內容就是對字體的設定,而為了不同的字體,就加入了不同的設定.

Thanks very much. It works great in both RHEL 3 and SuSE 9.1.
In RHEL, I have to tweak the spacing between the non-Chinese characters by editing /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and /etc/gtk/gtkrc.zh_CN. Also the font in the Konsole need to be set to Lucidatypewriter to be clear. Also OpenOffice displays regular font of "ArialFZZhunYuan" slanted and the italic looks zigzagged. Bold looks bold and not slanted. This is not an issue for SuSE 9.1.

其实还有更简单的方法。安装starsuite7后。修改 /etc/fonts/fonts.conf文件
<dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts</dir>
<dir>/usr/share/fonts</dir>
<dir>/home/OtherFont</dir>
<dir>/usr/share/yudit/fonts</dir>                                                    《---加入
<dir>/home/starsuite7/share/fonts/truetype</dir>                             《---加入
<dir>~/.fonts</dir>
然后字体中选择Andate Sans UI 字体平滑和不平滑分别得到两种不同效果。
