Hi, do you know if Dell Inspiron 8000 natural support bluetooth technique, or I should buy an extra PCI card? I checked the Dell website, but maybe 8000 is too old, I didn't find any information there. Do you have any clue?

No, I am not rich. I know the hardware is pretty expensive. The reason I need that because of this: http://www.linuxfans.org/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=32026

Some bigger universities (such as UT --- University of Texas) have the wireless network service for their students in campus area. I don't know if University of Houston (main campus) does that too, but I am in downtown campus and they definately don't have that. I don't want to be caught three times, so......

Anyway, to do this, I have to buy a PCI card for the notebook, and then I have to have a cell phone supports bluetooth. The cell phone is the most expensive part --- the cheapest one I checked will be $249 (Tax not included). Right now I am with T-mobile, they apply the network for $9/mon extra. I will wireless connect my cell phone and notebook together, and the speed is like a 56K dialup.

That's my plan, any suggests? Oh, if you know better and cheaper way to do this, send me an email. If you know any place can get cheap hardware, please email me too. Take care.

so u want to have network access in library? why do u not to contact u admin? provide a line to u is his responsibility.

ic. our library reserve some lines for laptop use. and also have 802.11b wireless.

no idea on bluetooth, but u idea looks ok. why u buy a pci card? i think u should buy a pcmica card. no idea on which card or what brand u should buy though.
