配置内核为什么不能保存?配置中有bug!!!

1:用make xconfig配置完,想保存配置文件,在输入名字的时候,怎么敲键盘输入都没反应???
2:在character devices --->joysticks中
game port support本来是n,我照着llc的那篇配置手柄的文章,选m,但是一点m,
就选到了y,本来m,n 黑体字,y是灰色的,但是一点m,y就选定了,怎么回事?
3:而且在编译完后,有两个错误,无法生成新核心,怎么办阿???
我装的是rh9光盘上带的linux-2.4.20-8

for 1) 2), try use make menuconfig
for 3) that is because u use rh kernel, sometime it compiles with error. try to use the default configuration, and modify as little as possible.
4) for the end_request, i/o error, i am not sure, maybe u disk has problem? i always find this when i send request to a failed device driver. try to install a http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ to check u ide disk smart record.
5)  block-major-34/33 are hde, hdf, i think u need to check if u choose right ide driver
6) char 188 is usb serial convertor, check if u choose │<M> USB Serial Converter support                                                 │ │

7) sound... is u sound device driver, i forget hwo to config it on rh, can anybody figure it out?
in a command console, run setup, choose service, disable sgi_fam. i do not think u need it, and if nobody loginto u system from network, u can also disable that ssh.

en ,sounds so difficult for me ,i am only a freshman
however,i will try again ,using menuconfig this time
if i still fault ,can you give some adcise about what
other  version of kernel can i try ?
my soundcard is creative 128 pci ...

u can try 2.4.21 from http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4/linux-2.4.21.tar.bz2

post  u /etc/modules.conf  here
