where should I put index.htm ?

Soryy every I install english version linux.. I only can type english..hope you do not feel being bored.

I installed Apache 2.0 on my red hat linux 8.0. but there seems two directories works. one is /var/www . another is /usr/local/apache2...

so where is the my new index.htm acutally on???
