增加了特殊输入模式，可以输入一些特殊符号或者用户自定义的字符。

用 'i' 键进入该模式。例如：

输入 idate 将得到当前日期的字符串
输入 imath 将可以输入常用的数学符号

用户可以自定义自己的表文件 ~/.scim/chinese/special_table

一直想用这个，呵，却没有试。

不知它是否适合只使用五笔的用户使用？

不妨装上试一下呀。

装 scim-0.8.1 和 scim-tables-zh-0.3.0 两个包就可以用五笔了。

I'm using scim 0.8.1 in Redhat9. But I can not input chinese. Firstly I launch the scim by "scim -d". Then I am using gedit and call up the input bar. when some chinese show up in the input bar it could not be inputted in textfield. what's the problem??

Use zh_CN.GBK or zh_CN.GB18030 locale instead.

Why I can not use other locale such "zh_CN.GB2312"?? I can use "zh_CN.GB2312" and lower scim version in RedHat7.2

GTK2 application  requires the specific locale or scim needs them??

I have another question. The scim documentation said that for gtk2 application I should update the gtk.immodules. Also I have to launch the sicm by " scim -f socket -ns socket -d ". Why?? I think the simple way is  "scim -d".

In some system, the zh_CN.GB2312 locale has bug. This actually is a bug of XFree86 4.3.0. So please do not use this locale.

If you want to use the gtk2 native input method module of SCIM, you should first install scim-gtk2-immodule package, and update your /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules file by running:

gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules

And then run :

scim -f socket -ns socket -d

to start a scim daemon which is used by scim's gtk2 immodule.

Then set GTK_IM_MODULE=scim.

Then you can run gtk2 applications with scim's gtk2 native immodule support.
