关于adsl上网，mandrake9.2下，问题仍未解决？

在安装 rp-pppoe-3.5 时有如下提示：
***Oops! I couldnt find pppd,the ppp daemon anywhere,
***You must install pppd,version 2.3.10 or later.
***I will keep going,but it may not work.
***Oops.Icannot figure out what version of pppd you have.
***All I got back was <found>
***Iwill keep going,but it may not work.
pppd是什么？我已经装了mandrake9.2的rpm包下的ppp-3.5-1.***.rpm 了。
不知怎么回事，求解。
