sorry, my system can't input chinese and i can't speak Japanese . i just can speak a little english .

my system is redhat 9.
i am located in education network and i am behind gateways or firewalls that porbid our visiting to outboard site directly, so we must visit outboard site through a http proxy or a sock proxy in browser .

recently , i want to install gnome 2.8 release distribution through an open source software named garnome . this software will directly download source package from some outboard site such as http://ftp.gnome.org/ and so on in terminal command line . i have set a http-typed proxy in gnome-network-preference , but it can't work .
