为何进不了X呢？

系统为rh9，开始是装了服务器，所以只能在文本下运行。后来想在图形界面下操作，就用升级的方式把gnom给装上了。得重启系统后为何进不了X呢，还是只能到login:而已，然道还少装了什么东东吗？谢谢！

看看 /etc/inittab
中有没有这一行：id:5:initdefault:
你的可能是id:3:initdefault:
那么将这个3改成5，以后就可以默认进入图形界面了

看看能否运行xf86config或xf86cfg配置一下显卡或显示器

还有一问题要请教：如果这台服务器没有显示器，别的机子能不能用vnc控制它呢？谢谢！

运行这两个命令后都提示找不到命令。

我想它在默认时是文本;在输入startx 时启动X-window
有什么办法么??

我是接服务器的默认安装的
如果不能;;则还有装什么软件包??

楼主的x  没配置好，没装配置工具，那只能手写xf86config 了。其实既然是服务器何必要x 呢？用 ssh 多好，再不济装个webmin 不就行了。

因为我们是新手;像win32一样;
如果在图形界面下熟悉了文件的位至和其它我们现在不知的;
才能用得上DOS...................
