关于vmware的问题

我在winxp上安装了vmware4.0，然后在vmware上安装了 red hat linux 9，一切顺利，接着安装vmware tools，安装也很顺利，但安装后运行vmware-congfig-tools.pl 时，出现以下提示：Before running VMware Tools for the first time, you need to configure it by invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl". Do you want

我觉得这段话的意思是推出桌面状态，在命令行直接运行配置命令，可是我只知道从命令行启动X-窗口的命令是startx，而不知道怎样从窗口状态进入命令行。现在我想请教，我理解是否正确，如何正确安装vmware tools，我刚入门，肯情哪位老兄能详细指明。或发送邮件给我。我的邮箱是：yxf0953＠.sina.com 。谢谢！
