Debian无法支持usb的ps/2鼠标?

我的机器是P4/Nvidia GForce FX5200,用的usb鼠标,内核2.6.17.8自己编译,选择了对该鼠标支持,安装官方最新显卡驱动,在准备启动进入图形界面时候出现错误:

(EE)xf86OpenSerial:Cannot open device /dev/input/mice
       No such  device.
(EE)Configured Mouse:cannot open input device
(EE)PreInit failed for input device "Configured Mouse"
No core pointer

检查过文件/dev/input/mice字符设备存在,使用modprobe psmouse也不行,修改/etc/x11/xorg.conf 中的设备和协议都不成功,不知道该如何解决
