How 2 install mplayer in home

How to install mplayer in /home/usrname/
directory, if I'm not the root?

I got some errors when atend to install it, like:
error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

安装只能用root安装

Because I'm only a common user in company,
I wonder the request of instal mplayer by root may be rejected!

Then, are there any mutil-mediia player tools in a classical
linux env that can player .wmv file?
(Sorry, I can not type chinese word,   )
