如果你是老手,你可以选择你要的部份看,并希望你能多提
供更多的讯息。
你可以任意拷贝,修改后使用,但不论是那种方式的取
得都不可有商业交易的用途,即使是修改后的也不可贩卖
而是必需无条件的免费提供给网络使用者。
虽然笔者已向原文作者(Una Smith)告知过了,而只有
回一封问我的编写方式后,就没回了!但他是兴趣要有一份
中文版的,而希望有好质量。我想我是免费提供而非商业
贩卖,所以作者会很乐意的,但下一版希望能取得 Una Smith
先生的同意声明。
以下是全文的目录,而第六章在本版并未编写,希望各
位能帮忙作者一起收集完成它。有意见寄到

【第一章 简介】
《第一节 起源与目的》
本文章主要参考 A Biologist's Guide to Internet Resources v1.7
(1993) 一文，原文作者为 Una R.Smith。笔者则就这篇资料作些翻译，再加一
些有关台湾网络的数据，目的在于提供生物学相关研究者一个使用网络资源的
手册；当然，就第一版而言，只能提供原文章所提供的资源做一个整理，并指
导使用者如何就台湾网络资源中找出最近的所在地，避免使用者对外国网络做
太多联机，而减少网络的壅塞；而笔者的最终目的是除了就原文所提供的资源
做个整理，希望网络上的同好们能提供台湾相关的资料，以便笔者做整理，而
让这类的数据能够『本土化』。
《第二节 此版的编写原则与注意事项》
若台湾网络上已有的数据，则不再列出原文所列的外国数据库，藉以减少
对外国网络的联机。另外笔者以本身编写的习惯来编写，所以本文的编写型式
以及顺序和原文的文章不尽相同。
一些所列的软件，一定是属非商业性软件，但并不表示笔者所列软件是唯
一的，而是就笔者使用过的来介绍，不一定是最好用的。若读者有更新或更好
的使用方式，欢迎读者向笔者介绍。
网络的历史之类的描述，笔者就加以省略，若读者对网络的历史有兴趣，
市面上有关 Internet 的书籍以及附录的『原文的参考文献』中可以找到有关
网络历史的电子书。
笔者是第一次编写，所以本版有任何错误的地方，敬请原谅，并告知笔
者，让下一版有更好的编写。
希望初次使用网络的读者，请先看完每个相关的章节，再试本文所列的范
例，特别注意『网络礼节』一章。
笔者习惯的操作系统是:
--Cwindows 3.1
--Macintosh System 7.0 + Chinese Talk 以及 System 7.1
+ WorldScript (没试过 PowerMac)
--Unix (一些)
作者就这些系统编写，若是 VMS/VAX 等， 原谅作者不熟甚至不会 。
第三节 版权声明
--原则上本中文版的著作权属于笔者,而由于主要参考原文,所以有些
权利属 Una Smith 先生的。
--本文件可任意散布于网络资源中，可以拷贝、修改、引用等皆为免费
，但拷贝后、修改后等皆不可做为商业用途。即使是修改后的也不可
贩卖,而是必需无条件的免费提供给网络使用者。
--任何完整或部份的流传,必需附有本文的版权声明。

【第二章 网络礼节】
在网络上一些专业性的讨论群 (包括新闻讨论群 (Newsgroups) 以及邮递
讨论群 (mailing-list))，你必需了解一些特定的网络礼节，因为在这些讨论
群被许多国际人士所利用，特别是一些专业研究者。事实上，这些讨论群就像
是一个小型的会议，特别是一个永不停止的会议，参与者可以依兴致来参加或
不参加，而一个好的讨论群，它的意见以及信息一直在交流变更着。
《第一节 讨论群的型式以及被接受的文章》
讨论一般性有趣的问题，依特定的讨论群而讨论着特定的主题、技术等。
宣告一些相关专业会议的事项，比如寻求文献、论文以及各种国际性或地
域性的讨论会议，甚至在特定学术界重要学者过逝的消息，以及纷纷表示个人
的遗憾等。
在新闻讨论群 (Usenet or Newsgroups) 中会有限制张贴的期限，即管理
此群讨论群的人会定期或不定期的整理『布告』，或者可能会限制特定的文章
在于特定机构或特定区域的读者才能看见。
有时会有一些新的出版物、论文、技术或相关应用软件的介绍，如果有配
合文献引用来源的提供是最适当的，但不包括商业性的广告。寻找特定的文献
或寻求别人的意见，网络的研究者都很乐意提供，特别是很受欢迎的主题，常
常充满讨论的气息。
《第二节 较不被接受的文章包括》
商业广告、政治文宣以及不相关特定主题的文章(即离题的文章)。但若是
对一些商业商品的讨论，特别是特定的书籍或软件，只要不构成打广告成分则
是被准许的。
一些寻找有关家庭作业、考试或论文的答案，则比较不受欢迎。原则上可
以提出一些生物相关问题，也被乐意回答，但前题是提出者对于提出的问题要
有基本性的认知，即不要问一些太过基本或一般基本教科书即有答案的问题。
《第三节 一些有帮助的建议》
一、在你张贴前(即将文章放到网络上)，先了解一下:
在你第一次张贴前，先了解你要参与的讨论群的基本运作型式，最好先看
人家以前贴的各个文章，可能在你贴之前就已经讨论过相同的议题，通常看完
别人讨论的各个文章之后，你已经得到许多你想要的资料，最好花个一个星期
去了解了解一下。更好的是你能看过每个讨论群所提供的 FAQ (Frequently
asked questions)，因为它包坐F从以前被问的相关问题做一个整理，而有这
份数据，你可以省去寻找资料来源的时间，就像本文就是一种 FAQ 的型式。
如果这两点你都作到，而没有你要的资料，才张贴问题以寻求它人帮助，
会减少同样问题的一再提起。
二、文章注明你的全名以及电子邮件地址 (e-mail address)
因为在网络上长途的传送之后，而在电子邮件的开头说明以及讨论群文章
会有很奇怪的讯息(因为它将每个转送点的地址都附加在后面)，所以，在每个
文章之加上你的『标签』(Signature)，是网络上的习惯，甚至可做些漂亮的图
案以及附加你的住址，或加上你喜欢的诗，但最好不要太长以避免浪网络资
源。
如: (但注意中文只有对有支持中文的机器才有用，寄到国外会变成乱码!)

三、适当选择私人回信或公开张贴.
在讨论群中，有的时候私下回信会较适当些，比如，你谢谢特定某个人，
而你公开张贴出来，那就比较奇怪些；而你回答讨论群上的问题，公开张贴出
来，可以让有同样疑问的读者一起分享你知道的信息。
四、原则上，提出原始问题的人做个总结...
最好在许多回复的文章中能做个总结，最好的方式:
--最好的答案放在最前头.
--将全部答案分隔清楚一点，而以最适当的格式列出.
--多余或离题的意见以及不符事实的数据等都应去除.
--每个答案的提出者，必需加以注明，除他们没有提供他们的名字.
--谨慎地确定何种答案是正确，做好一个好的综合文件.
如果能做好总结，对以后相同问题的读者有个很好的参考。
五、避免不必要的『战端』
--对于不同的声音，请具有包容的雅量.
--避免个人的人身攻击.
如果你看见令你十分不快的文章，先把情绪缓一缓，先做其它可以先做的
事，当你冷静下来后，想想你要说的论点并好好的整理，而尽量避免直接张贴
到公开的讨论群，籍由私下的电子邮件好好的沟通。
六、在引用他人的文章之前，请注重智慧财产权..
在引用任何电子文件之前，请先参考每个文件所附的版权声明，并且尊从
其版权声明，即使没有注明，每个文件的智慧财产权皆属于原始创作者(不论你
有没有做任何的修改)。现在大部份的电子书许多都欢迎免费的使用以及散布，
但是通常这些免费的文件是不准许作商业用途的，除非原作者同意出售。
所以，在任何文件或原始软件的使用之前，特别是文章的引用，请利用文
件中所附的地址或电子邮件地址，礼貌性地告知作者一声。若是私下的通讯的
引用，也要特别的注明。
【第三章 网络工具】
也许你是个新手，所以本章就网络上目前的一些工具做个简单介绍，若你
是个老手，那你可跳过本章不看，但希望你能提供笔者有关本章的一些意见。
本章只是简单介绍基本操作 (并没有将所有的指令列出，而只列出笔者觉
得常用的) 并且笔者用口语化的说明，并非用专有名词，所以可能解释不当；
如果你想了解更多或者你看完本章之后不是很了解，那笔者建议你到市面上?
本有关 Internet 的书籍，以得到更进一步的了解；

《第一节 什么是 Telnet》
简单说就是计算机之间联机的通讯软件，比如说你在学校中某台工作站(终端
机)申请一个使用账号，而你使用工作站所提供的软件之前，你则必需利用
Telnet 软件先将你的计算机连到工作站，而这个软件就是 Telnet。
telnet xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 工作站的地址，讯问申请处 (各校电算中心)
login: ????? 申请的代码
password: 申请的密码，打的时候看不见......
又比如你知道各大学有 Internet BBS 可以玩，那你可以执行
如:
telnet bbs.nsysu.edu.tw

^^^^^^^^^^^^ edu 表学术单位
^^^^^^^^^^^^ tw 表台湾
此段指令表示:自你的计算机(执行 Telnet 的所在) 连接到中山大学的 BBS 站.
bbs.nsysu.edu.tw 则表示中山大学 BBS 站主机的一个『地址』，用英文字母
代表，而同一台机器有另一数字代的地址
如: telnet 140.117.11.2 = telnet bbs.nsysu.edu.tw

(下面的方式是笔者就一些相关软件作个介绍，是笔者觉得还不错的!)

台湾 BBS 主要提供多人对话 (Talk)、公布栏 (Board)、BBS 之内的通信
(Mail) 以及网络数据的提供，在公布栏中，有关各方面的讨论蛮多，特别是一
些网络以及计算机的讨论，另外一般日常生活以及小说故事的讨论蛮精彩，但是
较缺乏生物相关的讨论(其它学科我不清楚，可能讨论蛮热烈)。
附录 A 为台湾 BBS 的列表，注意其随时间而有所改变!而且许多 BBS 的
账号已满。
《第二节 什么是 E-mail》
在一些工作站以及 BBS 站会提供所谓电子邮件的传送，可以让你藉由网络
很快的和国外以及其它地方的朋友们或一些学者作联络，其传送的速度相当快
速，像寄到国外约十来分钟的可到达。
先决条件是你必需要在所在的工作站申请一个账号 (不然，当你关机的时
候，如何收信?)， 因为工作站是一直在运作，所以，机器的邮件程序可以一直
处理一直来到的信件，再放在所在账号的空间，等你再度联机之后就可以读了!
而别人如何在网络上指定出你的信箱呢?在你申请账号时，注意一下你的代
号 (login: 后输入的代号，即 login_name 或 user_name) 以及工作站的位
址，那你的『电子邮件地址』(e-mail address) 就是 (login_name@serve
address)，如原文作者的电子邮件地址就是 [email protected] 在 yale.edu
主机上的 smith-una 账号。
不同工作站的电子邮件系统不尽相同 (甚至差异蛮大)，笔者在此介绍一般
Unix 的电子邮件系统指令:
联机之后，执行 mail 即进入 mail 程序
mail>
? 列出所有指令
h 列出所有来信的开头 (Subject)
打入数字 表示看第某封信
d (第 n 封信) 删除第封信，比如删除第一封则 d 1
q 离开程序但改变信箱的信，将一些信移至 mailbox 檔中
x 离开程序但不改变信箱的信
另外，要寄信则在 Unix 下 mail (e-mail address) 指令即可，如果你是
初学者，请先寄给自己试试是否成功，然后会出现
Subject: 打入你这封信的开头 [Return]
然后，打入信的内容，通常用 vi 文书编辑 (在 Unix 下 man vi 即列出有关
vi 的说明书)，打完之后，按 Ctrl-D 即可，若不想寄了按 Ctrl-离开不
寄了!
Ctrl-D 之后然后会出现
CC: 此行表示除了原邮件地址之外，你可多打一些其它地址，
使同样信可以送到多人的手中。

笔者推荐 Unix 下的 pine， pico， elm， joe 等。
先试试你的账号中是否有提供，不然可以自己在网
路抓来而自己安装。其中 pine.tar.gz 包含 pine
(邮件系统) 以及 pico (类似 PE2 的文书处理程序)

寄中文信:
(笔者说明:先在 PC 下执行中文系统，再联机)
必需在 UNIX 下执行 stty pass8 才能在联机之后，看见邮件系统的中文
信， 也才能在文书处理器下打中文，但上述的 pine (elm 笔者不知) 不可送
中文信 (除非对方也是用 pine)
笔者建议:
先用文书处理程序打好你的信，存成一个档，再用下列指令送出:
mail -s "your subject" (e-mail_address) < your_letter.txt
先寄给自己试试啦!
《第三节 什么是 Anonymous FTP》
FTP (file transfer protocol) 即所谓的档案传送，在你要将你的工作站
账号中的档案或程序传回到你的计算机，则必需要有 FTP 的程序，反之，用相同
的程序可将你的数据传到工作站。方法如下:
ftp xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
login: (your user name)
passwd: (your passwd)
ftp> 出现 FTP 的程序的提示号....
<指令>
help 列出所有指令
ls 列出所有檔名 (ls=list)
ls -l 列出所有档名外，另包括档案大小、日期以及型式(权限).
cd (目录名) 改变目录到某目录(目录名) (cd=change directory)
pwd 列出所在目录
binary 在传送非文字文件之前，必需先执行
ascii 在传送文字文件之前，必需先执行 (如 .txt .ps 等)
get (檔名) 将工作站所在的档案传送到你的计算机
put (文件名) 将你的计算机所在的档案传送到工作站
mget (檔名) (檔名) 将工作站所在的多个档案传送到你的计算机，可用 *
mput (檔名) (檔名) 将你的计算机所在的多个档案传送到工作站，可用 *
prompt 切换是否在传送多个档案时，一条一条问你要不要抓
quit 离线
而 Anonymous FTP 则是在一些工作站会存放一些电子数据或者一些软件
(一些非商业性软件，或者商业但试玩一段期限的软件)，其进入的方法如下:
ftp xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxx < 一些 Anonymous FTP 工作站的地址
login: anonymous (or ftp)
passwd: (your email-address)
指令一样....

附录 B 为台湾 FTP 数据库的列表，注意其随时间而有所改变!
其中 nctuccca.edu.tw 以及 imftp.mgt.ncu.edu.tw 是属于一些国外著名
FTP 数据库的 Mirror Server，即国外的许多档案以及数据在这些站皆有作些
备份，并且会随时间而跟着更新。所以，若你知道网络上有什么很好的数据，
不要急得往外国联机，先用 Archie (见第四节) 寻找是否在国内已经，因为大
半的资料都可从国内得到。
在你取得软件之后，你会需要一些解压缩软件，如 DOS 下软件通常为
*.zip
那你必需先有 pkz204g.exe ，是属一自解压缩档，可以得到一些解压缩档，
其中 pkunzip -d file_name.zip 可以将你抓来的 *.zip 解成许多档案，所以
最好先增加个子目录，先将你抓来的档案先移到新增的子目录下再解开。若是
*.gz 那必需找到 gzip.exe 用 gzip -d file_name.gz 来解；或者有的 FTP
Server 有帮忙解 gz 的功能，只在 FTP 下原本执行 get file_name.gz 改成
get file_name 即可。
在 Macintosh 下则必需先要有 stuffitexpander351.hqx 来解，
.hqx 需 Binhqx 或者 Fetch 本身有解 .hqx 的功能.
.cpt .sit .sea .hqx 等 Stuffitexpander 可解.
.gz 则必需 Maczip 或注册后的 Stuffitexpander 可解.
注:在 Fetch 的 Customize Menu 下有 Post-Processing... menu， 只要一次
设定完之后，以后 Fetch 就会就结尾字母来自动帮你执行解压缩功能。

Windows: winzip.zip Windows 下的解压缩『公用程序』
程序本身不会，而是需上述 DOS 的软件，而 Winzip 只是指
引其软件路径，但是蛮方便的。

建议:
在解完程序后，其一定会附有程序使用的说明 (如 readme.txt，
install.doc 等)，请按照安装说明 (大部份不会很难)， 如果不行再到 BBS
Board 了解或找人用， 而笔者希望这类安装事情请不要来信问笔者，因为 BBS
上有许多这方面的讨论，请多多利用。
《第四节 什么是 Archie》
在你知道有很好的软件可以用 (比如每章节后所列的一些软件)，但你不知
如何去找，也不知在前一章所列的 FTP 数据库中的那个目录，所以你就要借重
Archie server 的功能，它可以帮你指出它们在那个 FTP 数据库中。
笔者只介绍两个在台湾的:
telnet archie.ncu.edu.tw login:archie or twarchie
telnet archie.twnic.net login:archie
前者 archie 的范围在于世界的所有 FTP 数据库，而 twarchie 则限定在台
湾；后者虽以 archie 进入，但仍以台湾的数据库为主。所以，笔者建议你在
使 Archie 就以台湾的先找，如果找不到再以全世界范围来找，节省你的时
间，也节省网络上的各位的时间。

prog (檔名) 寻找某档案的所在地
quit 离线
比如:找 ewan103.zip => 则只要打 prog ewan 就会将档名含有 ewan 的所在
都列出来给你， 如 MATEWAN.0810.gz， ewan1c.zip， ewan102.zip 等。

两者皆属于找到之后，可以立刻传送的程序，为前者必需配合 FTP 程序，如
ws_ftp

《第五节 什么是 Gopher》
Gopher 是一种使用者接口的程序，将 FTP 以及其它种的网络的相连作归
纳性的选单，让你不必知道许多工作站的地址而达到连接的目的，也有公布消
息以及作网络上数据的索引等。台湾各大学皆有建立 Gopher 系统，主要提供
校园间消息的公布，比如说: 大学联考榜单的公布、行事历公布、生活信息(如
统一发票公布、中国时报实时新闻)等，也是类似 BBS 布告栏的功能，不同的
是，其一切的消息是由管理者负责收集数据以及张贴，而不是公开让大家贴
的。
如何进入: 用 Telnet 的方式，
如:
telnet gopher.nsysu.edu.tw login:gopher

《第六节 什么是 World-Wide Web》
类似 Gopher 的功能，但是它更强，结合了多媒体的功能，使一个布告栏
可以藉由图片、动画以及声音表现的更生动，并且可连接网络上的各种功能
(如上述的 FTP， Gopher 以及 Usenet，Wais 等) 。祥细情形请参见
ftp.tem.nctu.edu.tw /Chinese/FAQ/www/*.* 下有三件中文的说明书以及问题
集。

【第四章 讨论群】
就笔者的定义，讨论群主要包括新闻讨论群 (Usenet 也是所谓的
newsgroups 或 news) 以及邮递讨论群 (Mailing list) 两大类，而就笔者的
看法， BBS 中的布告栏也是讨论群的一种，甚至现这些讨论在现在有互相流通
的情形，只是范围上以及使用方式上仍有许多的不同。
《第一节 什么是 Usenet》
Usenet 不是一种网络， 而是藉由 Internet 来传送对某个相关的问题作
个讨论，而每一个相关讨论的管理，收集自各地的 news server 中各地读者发
表的文章，再将所有的文章再送到各地的 news server，这就是它主要的方
式。而使用者可以藉一些软件来和当地的 news server 连接，而可以看这些讨
论的文章，而藉同样的软件也可发出自己的意见，这种方式使你的意见可以散
布到『全世界』!
方法:
--在你申请的账号下 (Unix 下) 执行 tin
--寻找和 news server 联机的程序，如 Windows 有 wt_wsk.zip，
而 Macintosh 下有 internews101.cpt.hqx。
--利用有些 Gopher 有和 news 连接的功能，但不能张贴文章!
--利用 WWW 联机程序， 用 Open URLs:
news:news_groups_name 的方式来联机，但一样不能张贴!
必需设好 news 的地址， 如 Window 下的 Mosaic.ini 中
[Services]
NNTP_Server="news.sinica.edu.tw"

除了第二章所提的网络礼节外，在此对 Usenet 的礼节另外再列:
--如果你是新手，你应该到 news.announce.newusers 寻找一些
FAQs 来看看.
--在 misc.test 或 tw.bbs.test 的讨论群下贴你试贴的文章.
--若是会议或是征人文章，请注明期限.
--如果你要贴在许多不同的讨论群下，请用跨贴 (Crossing-
posting) 的方式来贴(不同于到处贴)，可以使同一篇文章被
许多人看到.
--若跨贴在于同一关连性的二个以上讨论群中应该避免，(如 bitnet.*
之间的讨论是属同为同一关连性的讨论群)因为用电子邮件来参与的
使用者会因此而收到多份相同的文章。

《第二节 什么是 Mailing List-LISTSERV》
笔者将之称为邮递讨论群，即用电子邮件的方法来达到讨论的目的，你要
先向某个信件整理者 (lists administrator人工处理或 LISTSERV 程序处理)
注册其中的某个讨论群(mailing list)(每的信件整理者负责的可能不只一个讨
论群)，之后，你每天就会收到来自讨论群所收集的信件，你也可以投书到讨论
群中，注意，是投到讨论群群的地址，而不是你注册的地址。之后，你不希望
再参加此讨论群，则向原本注册的地址办理取消注册。
邮递讨论群礼节:
--尽可能 Bitnet 使用者用 LISTSERV 的 Bitnet address，而 Interenet 使
用者用 Interenet address.
--保留一份你注册的信以及注册后收到的介绍.
--当你电子邮件地址改变之前，办理取消注册；或当你要出远门不用的话 ，向
信件整理者办理暂时停止送信.
--避免同一封信寄到多个讨论群.
--如果你的文章很长的话，在标题处注明. 如 (Long!)
邮递讨论群主要分为两种，其中一种是普遍使用 Eric Thomas 设计的
LISTSERV 程序来处理信件，可以自动处理信件以及送信，也可做一些数据的传
送以及储存(如依需要者而发送 FAQ 等)。下一章节即是非 LISTSERV 式的邮递
讨论群。
附录 F 是原文所列的有关生物的 LISTSERV 讨论群， 注意! 所列的是讨
论群 (mailing list) 的地址， 若要注册或设定要寄到
listserv@........ ，如要注册参加下列讨论群，则分别寄到
[email protected] 以及 [email protected]。

《第三节 什么是 Mailing List(2)-nonLISTSERV》
附录 G 所列的是非 LISTSERV 型式的邮递讨论群，记得在收到注册后的简
介信件，其指令和 LISTSERV 型式的指令并不相同，其注册以及取消注册的方
式也不同。
取得所有邮递讨论群列表的方式:
--在 news.answers 有分为六个部份的 FAQ (da Silva 1993)
包括所有邮递讨论群的列表以及简短的介绍。
--在 FTP 下可以找到 /netinfo/interest-groups 或 interest
-groups.Z， 有很长的列表 (1.2MB)。但是因为讨论一直在变
动，所以不是完整的。(也不可能完整)
《第四节 一些特殊节点的介绍》
有些新闻讨论群在近年来建立和邮递讨论群的交流，以便让使用者多一种
使用方式，这种作为两者之间有一交换的接口，称之节点 (Gateways)。本节最
后所列的就是一些两者之间交流 (BBS 所谓的转信) 的列表。
而台湾有些 BBS 之间有些相同性质公布栏会有互相转信的情形，这是因为
现在 BBS 越来越多的一种策略，因为若不作转信的话，各别的 BBS 只能各自
的讨论而造成讨论不够集中，讯息也会各自打散。
有的 BBS 的公布栏则是和新闻讨论群之间作转信，如中山大学 BBS 的一
些公布栏即是个例子，而在新闻讨论群的名称为 tw.bbs.*。

《第五节 什么是 FAQ》
FAQ (Frequently asked questions) 就字面上就可知是所谓的问题集，主
要是某一个讨论或 BBS 公布栏对特定的问题做一个收集，让各方面的初学或欲
知更多网络资源的人有个完整的依据。如本文以及原本皆是属于 FAQ 型式的文
件。

【第五章 有关生物的资料】
本章主要介绍有关生物数据的寻找以及使用，就下几节分别介绍。本章所

现在有些人开始免费提供有关生物的讯息、数据库以及服务，藉由 Gopher

结。查询方式是电子邮件的方式，详细情形，只要在信内文加 "send guide"
