启动phpMyAdmin的问题

redhat9+apache2.0.49+php4.0.20环境下启动phpMyAdmin的问题

Apache和PHP配置正常,mysql在命令行测试正常.但是链接到http://shaw/phpMyAdmin/出现如下错误shaw是我本机名称)

我这里其实已经反复改过几次了,原来config.inc.php中server config部分为:

现在把$cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] 改为 = 'localhost';

运行,出现以下提示:

我又做了以下工作,出现以下提示:
[root@shaw bin]# mysqladmin ping
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)'
[root@shaw bin]# mysqld

040610  7:30:36  Can't start server: Bind on TCP/IP port: Address already in use040610  7:30:36  Do you already have another mysqld server running on port: 3306 ?

[root@shaw bin]# mysqld

看起来肯定是我的密码有些问题,但是做如下操作:
[root@shaw bin]# mysql -uroot -p

又没有问题.请教问题到底在哪里?我要晕倒了
