ACPI doesn't work with Notebook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all!!

i have SUSE 8.1(i had also Redhat 8.0 and the same problem) in my Compaq Evo N160(1Ghz, 384MB, 20GB), but the advanced power control doesn't work, it means no Standby, no Battery Monitor.
can someone help?
