I tried to set up a simple cluster with two nodes, the configuration scenario
is set as:
Node 1: IBM Thinkpad A22p, PIII 1.0g, 512M mem
Dual boot system, Win2K/FC2
For FC2:
dev/hda3 /boot 1024M ext3
dev/hda5 / 5000M ext3
dev/hda6 swap 1024
dev/hda7 /drdb 585 ext3
OpenSSI: openssi-fc2-1.2.2.i686
Node 1: Static IP: 192.168.1.100
Firewall disabled
PXE
Root failover is enabled for node1, however, didnot install drbd-ssi-1.2.2
After node1 is booted up(with KDE started), use
'usr/sbin/openssi-config-node' to add a new node (2).
Node 2: IBM Thinkpad G40, P4 3.0g cpu, 1g mem
Originally Win2K is installed, use partition magic to resize the disk and set
up linux partitions as:
dev/hda3 /boot 1024M ext3
dev/hda5 / 3400M ext3
dev/hda6 swap 2048
dev/hda7 /drdb 585 ext3
PXE, 192.168.1.2
root failover is disabled
In node1, after run 'openssi-config-node' to add node 2, it is said:
"All new nodes are allowed to join the cluster. If you wish to setup a
local boot device for a node, wait until it's fully up, create a Linux
filesystem on one of its local disks using fdisk and mkfs, then run
ssi-chnode to configure the filesystem as a local boot device."
Then I begin to boot node2, after it loading kernal, it will halt forever, and
I will never receive a 'nodeup'
message in node 1, and when I use 'cluster -v', I can only see '1: UP', node 2
is unavailable.
The message in the scree of node2 is listed as:
"CPU: L2 cache: 512K

After this message is displayed, node2 will hang there forever, I don't know
what is wrong with it. I used a
USB optical mouse with node2, some people guess that is the reason. However,
even I unplug the USB mouse, I got
exactly the same result.
Anyone have similar experience on this? your advice will be highly
appreciated, thanks a lot!
Also, I have update the BIOS of the second node(IBM G40) to the newest version, but it doesnot help. Really feel crazy for this, could anyone give me a hint? Thanks!!! |
