Problem on installing Xorg

So touch it in your home dir, try again

Sorry, it did not work.

The directory "satimis" found missing.  Then ran;
[root@localhost satimis]# install --directory --mode=0755 --owner=satimis --group=satimis /mnt/lfs/home/satimis

[root@localhost satimis]# touch /mnt/lfs/home/satimis/.Xauthority
[root@localhost satimis]# chown -c satimis:satimis /mnt/lfs/home/.Xauthority
[root@localhost satimis]# chmod 755 /mnt/lfs/home/.Xauthority

Booted LFS 6.1 and login as "satimis"
$ echo $HOME[code:1]/home/satimis[/code:1]
$ startx
It hung on screen with following line displayed repeatedly[code:1]xauth: timeout in locking authority file /home/satimis/.Xauthority[/code:1]

Where is the lock file?

[root@localhost satimis]# chown -c satimis:satimis /mnt/lfs/home/.Xauthority
[root@localhost satimis]# chmod 755 /mnt/lfs/home/.Xauthority

Do it in your lfs env not the chroot env and try cp the Xauthority from the /root to the /home/USER/ and chmod 600, then try again. Good luck

I will try it later.  But the .Xauthfority of /root is an empty file.

I read /home/satimis/.Xauthority of FC3 Host.  It has codes on it.
/root of FC3 does not have .Xauthority file.

yes , i know. And i just think it is the usual way(touch a new one is not ^-^). hehe.

Hi linky_fan,

I tried all posssible means without a solution.  I can started X-window as User but have to wait a while after printing 3 lines on screen;

Xauth: time out in locking authority file /home/satimis/.Xauthority
Xauth: time out in locking authority file /home/satimis/.Xauthority
Xauth: time out in locking authority file /home/satimis/.Xauthority

then X-window started automatically.

Try xinit

On LFS 6.1

$ xinit
started X-window promptly without complaint. This time only one Xterm started. However the Xterm window can't be resized nor moved. [Ctrl]+[right mouse button] for selecting font size still worked.

Firefox can't be started on Xterm as User but can be started as root. Firefox window also can't be resized nor moved.
