请问我在装vmware tools的配置问题

我在装vmware tools时，用vmware-config-tools.pl来配置时，提示说：
This configuration program is to be executed out of an XFree86 session.Please shut down all instance of XFree86.

请问如何关all instance of XFree86.啊？我是新手，不好意思！
另，是X-windows中装的，是不是关闭X-windows就可以了？该如何关x-windows并回到text模式啊？非常感谢！

就是关闭X系统
方法1：修改/etc/inittab文件，将initrd设为3，注销。
方法2：CTRL+ALT+Back space
