Neil Diamond是美国60年代诞生的创作天才歌手，1966年诞生了自己的第一首排行榜前20位的歌曲。从这以后，他所做的歌曲被很多知名艺人收录到唱片中，比如Elvis Presley猫王和Deep Purple深紫乐队都演唱过的“Kentucky Women”。1968年艺术上的雄心把他带到唱片公司录制了生平第一首歌曲“Brooklyn Roads（布鲁克林大街）”，这是他从自我意识角度创作的自传作品。在后来的几年里，他的作品包括专门创作的一连串流行歌曲，随着他的成功不断发展，他的艺术眼界也同步发展。1970年他的“Cracklin’ Rosie”成为当年热门单曲。
