no, any kind of kernel, system hardware configuration allows an initrd-xx.img exists. if u use scsi disk, u can also omit it if u really want. that all depends on how u compile u kernel.
yes, same meaning in grub and lilo, both let kernel use a ram disk image first.
after u make bzImage, modules modules_install, use mkinitrd to generate, see its help to know. same as lilo.
lilo and grub are different bootloader only, they will not influent these system files. |
