关于：eth0 & 清理历史记录

请教几个问题：
1.我是网卡+以太猫上网的，装Redhat 9系统的时候，我选了 开机时激活网卡，可能是不该选这个选项，开机时 Bring up interface eth0 的时候，找了1分钟左右显示 [Failed]，请问：怎么样解决这个问题？
2.我发现在终端字符下输入过的命令在下次启动后居然还能用，如何清理这些垃圾？还有在xmms下“播放位置”听了网上的音乐后，下拉列表里的历史记录如何清理？

1.以太猫是什么没听说过，是dhcp/bootp上网？

2.history是bash一个很人性化的功能，如果你不要
rm ~/.bash_history

3.xmms的配置在~/.xmms/config
打开，找一下history就可以了

就是以太网接口的ADSL猫：)
装系统的时候，好象是选了 dhcp/bootp 下面的那个选项吧

If you don't want NIC to be inited at boot time, execute the command as root:
#chkconfig --level 235 network off
then bring up it manually :
#/sbin/ifconfig eth0 up [desired ip address ]

If you don't want bash history, run:
#echo "HISTSIZE=0" >> ~/.bash_profile
