HELP: unable to use 1024*768

Hello every one here. I am a new comer to this forum.
I recently installed RH9 to my notebook(TOSHIBA A10).
The default screen mode for KDE is 800*600. I tried to adjust the mode to 1024*768 but failed. I even tried to modify the config file but it seems ineffective, either.
I am really in trouble. Asking for HELP!

Strange enough!
It works this time!!
I did nothing but just restarted my computer and this time 1024*768 is perfectly presented to me!!
Oh, my God...
I have no idea of what is happening.
Maybe I should thank for my prays these days...
Anyway, I feel better now
