Grub can't boot gentoo

I have succeeded to partition an old MS partition, using mk2fs and installed gentoo on it. But, because the partition was orginally vfat, gentoo could be booted by GRUB. Could anyone can help?

What exactly happened? And your fstab and grub.conf please!
