Problems of SCIM!!HELP!

I use Scim 0.9And I have installed scim-0.9.3-1.i586.rpm,scim-chinese-0.2.7-1.i586.rpm.but I still can not type chinese(It''s no use after logout and login).I type scim in terminal then there is a panel in the lower right.but it is no use!!I have tried many times!!
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

just type "scim -d" in terminal and then press ctrl+space
if it doesn't work
try this
export XIM="SCIM"
export XIM_PROGRAM="SCIM"
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
scim -d

I have tried it,it still doesn't work.There is only a small keyboard in the lower right, and I pressed ctrl+space,notheing appeared.Anything wrong with my computer??!
(My computer use RedHat Linux 9)
