安装了nvidia驱动,我进不了x-windows?????

我是安下面的方法安装的,做好所有的以后,每一步都成功的,当我重起是进红帽8.0
  时,不能进去到x-window..

  另外,我有个同学他在编译内kerenl不能成功,但是编译glx却可以成功,这是为什么?

描述:
nvidia3D显卡的for linux驱动，玩3D游戏必备！ 安装方法：进入字符终端模式，unzip xxx.zip，先编译(rpm --rebuild或rpmbuild --rebuild)kernel，然后编译(rpm --rebuild或rpmbuild --rebuild)GLX，然后进入/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386(你的系统可能不是这个目录,但类似)目录下,rpm -ivh刚生成的两个rpm包.如果都succeful的话，则编辑/etc/X11/XF86Config-4（有的系统可能是/etc/XF86Config），将Driver "nv" （或Driver "vesa"）改为Driver "nvidia" ，在Module section段，加上这一行：Load "glx"；如果原来有这两行的话在前面加#注释掉：Load "dri"、Load "GLcore";同时,检查你的/etc/modules.conf文件里是否有alias char-major-10-175 agpgart和alias char-major-195 nvidia(这版本模块名字不再是NVdriver了)这两行,没有就加上,然后重起。

进时,不能起动图形啊,过了一会儿,看到的是用英语出现在屏幕中的兰色长方中.
  意思是好象是不能起动,问要不要重试.安yes or no  确定.我多选了,都是不行.
   我同学的一次就成功拉,我按他的又该了XF86Config-4 ,还是不行

我以前玩 Mandrake 9 时也经常碰到这种事情。。。的确莫名其妙，装完驱动后，重新启动 X，可是每次都是只有 nvidia 的图标闪了几下就退回到字符界面。。。可是偶尔重装后有时又可以。。。
不妨试一下：chmod 0666 /dev/nv* 然后 startx。
不行就再编译 nvidia-kernel，多编译几次(每次编译前先运行 make clean 把上次编译的 .o 全部删除)，偶尔也可以通过。
两种方法要互相换。

如果还不行。。。重装一下 Linux。。。再装驱动。。。或许可以通过。。。。

很奇怪啊，我在 mdk9 上难得成功，可是在 Gentoo 这个发行版上安装 n 卡驱动从来没有失败过。。。莫名其妙。。。

你的 nvidia-kernel 没装上去。OpenGL for X(GLX) 模块无法初始化核心模块所以会这样。
装上去就 OK 了。(问题就是 kernel 核心模块难装)

我安装好多次,但每次都是是成功的,可就是就是不行,

　　　我安装的不是RPM包的，不知道卸掉，以前是RPM包的，进不了x-windows 我知道卸掉，但这个我知道。不好意思，一个好菜的问题，请大家帮帮忙？

我的mandrake9.0都是这样,下载了NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4149.tar.gz和NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4149.tar.gz装上,但键入STARTX,出现了NVIDIA的标志,之后硬盘就狂响,但怎样都进不了kde的桌面,在这过程中鼠标反应也变得迟钝,我的显卡是GEFORCE2 MX

很不幸！我上述的问题都遇见过！第1次是无法启动XWINDOWS！下载TAR包重新安装！修改XF86Config中的"nv"后就解决了！第2次是启动到XWINDOWS时出现NVDIA商标！我想了好多办法都没解决！最后只有重装！
这次又出现了第1次遇见的问题！安装上次那个NVIDIA驱动！安装NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-3123.tar通过，在安装NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-3123.tar时报错！安装失败！试过很多次都没用！当然也进不了XWINDOWS了！

天知道呢。。。有时候看起来安装成功了，可是 X 启动失败，还是等于安装失败。
我感觉只要安装 kernel 模块时最后提示中带了警告(非 GPL 的警告除外)，就意味着这一次安装 100% 失败，就算没警告也不等于安装成功。
XF86Config-4 配置文件应该没什么关系。
多装几次试一下，偶尔多装几次就能成(有一次为了 nvidia-kernel 我一天重装了 5 次 mdk9...最后，哈哈，总算成了 <- 亏我还笑得出)
有一次 chmod 0666 /dev/nv* 也成。。。
有点凭运气的味道。

修改XF86Config中的"nv"后就解决了

改成 nv 或者禁用掉 glx 模块还不如不装，装了也是白装 -- 没有 OpenGL 3D 硬件加速啊~~~。

郁闷ing。。。
奇怪：可是 Gentoo 里我从来没遇见这个问题。。。
