在windows安装不上linux，怎么办？

我在windows 2000 professional下安装linux，我选择在最后一个区中安装，当我选择好安装组件后，系统拷贝东西到硬盘，然后系统提示需要等待几分钟，结果却是无限等待状态，我重启电脑也启动不起来，只好关机，然后启动，还是不行，过了一会才能启动。
我只好在windows在先装虚拟机，首先我用vmware32做虚拟机，装好以后进行配置，但系统提示说物理内存不够，设多少内存都不行，后来只好选择virtual pc做虚拟机，然后再安装，但是安装好以后，进不了图形界面，只能在text下进行操作，当我用命令startx时，系统提示如下：

请问哪位大侠知道该怎么装，怎样才会不出问题，而且能装上去，能否给一个详细的操作步骤，谢谢。

这是因为你在虚拟机安装时使用的是虚拟机的显卡，而不是你真正的显卡，这非常正常。建议运行xf86config,xf86cfg两个中的一个，祝你好运！
