我在RH8.0下用make xconfig弄2.4.20
(没有做# mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.4.18-3.img 2.4.18-3来生成initrd文件这一步)
重新引导的时候出现如下错误：

u use label.. so u have to generate an initrd file, otherwise change all u label to /dev/hdax,

ext3如果编译成模块的话那就需要initrd文件。编译进内核就不需要

并且将LABEL=/改为了hda11

感谢大家，终于搞定了
原来是grub.conf里面的这行kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root=/dev/hda11 多写了/root。嘿嘿，太大意了~~~~~

但是我进系统后网卡不能正常激活。
hardware browse说我的netcard是rtl8029(as)，而neat里又显示为pci ne2000 clones]。我在配置的时候选的ne2000.我到底改选那个呢，还是其他？

后附有我在原来的系统里的neat和hardware browser的截图，或许有用。

好像你得加上个t开头得什么包来着，在添加删除程序里，选中内核开发和kde开发工具就好了
