xorg 6.9 已经提供强劲的 ATI 3D 支持，一般无须另行安装驱动。

我用radeon的驱动我的9550被认为9600 而且3d没有起动 不知怎么起动 晕 现在越来越不理解ati的驱动了

需要 kernel 里面的 drm 也支持你的卡才行。
X300 在 Xorg 6.9 + 2.6.15 的情况下应该是可以的，再试试看

加载了drm模块，认出了我得显卡，
可用glxgears测试，
不加载dri 得时候，只有500-600fps
如果加载dri, 反而只有250fps了。

配置：
AMD mobile 64 athlon 3000+
15.4 wxgz lcd(16:10)
ati x700 128m
用安装程序识别的显示卡分辨率只能到1024×768
我的显示器需要1280×800,字体都被拉宽了，很难看。

安装驱动（ati-driver-installer-8.21.7-i386.run）后 startx失败

里面比较关键的一句应该是：

为什么？？
ati网站上说这个驱动可以支持x700系列显卡。
